Data Deletion Policy

This page describes how Userlist handles the deletion of customer data when a customer cancels their account or otherwise exits our service. It documents the timelines and procedures we follow to sanitize tenant data from our systems.
Account Cancellation
Customers can cancel their account at any time from within the application via their account settings. No support interaction is required to initiate cancellation.
Data Export
We recommend exporting any data you wish to retain before initiating cancellation. While your account is active, you can export your data at any time. If you need assistance, please contact us at support@userlist.com.
Production Data Deletion
Once an account is cancelled, customer data is deleted from production systems within hours. For accounts with very large datasets, deletion may take up to a few days to complete.
This deletion removes all tenant-specific operational data, including subscriber and user records, event data, campaigns, messages, templates, and segmentation.
Backup Expiration
We retain daily backups of our production database for 10 days. Any residual customer data contained in backups is fully expired within 10 days of production deletion completing.
Sub-processor Data
Data shared with our sub-processors is deleted in accordance with each sub-processor’s data retention policies. For the current list of sub-processors, see our list of sub-processors.
Retained Records
After deletion, we retain only the records required by law:
- Billing and invoice records — retained for the period required by applicable tax and financial regulations.
No operational, behavioral, or tenant content data is retained beyond the deletion window described above.
Data Subject Requests
End users (data subjects) whose personal data is processed by Userlist on behalf of a customer should direct any erasure requests to that customer, who is the Controller of their data. See our GDPR Policy for more detail on data subject rights and the Controller/Processor relationship.
